The Common Will

THE COMMON WILL / Dublin Fringe Festival 2008

In association with Hungry Ghost Theatre, Painted Filly Theatre will produce the new one-man show from Dublin-based writer and actor Phil Kingston, The Common Will. Nicholas Johnson will direct. The show will be performed in Bewley's Cafe Theatre at lunchtime from 8-13 September 2008. Look for more details in the Fringe programme and in future announcements from Painted Filly Theatre.

WORKSHOP SERIES

Following the Summer Writing Workshops 2008, Painted Filly Theatre will continue to offer a series of workshops for writers to develop one-act and full-length plays. This will enable Painted Filly Theatre to present much more new writing within the Dublin community than would be possible to stage within a year. Further details will be available following the inaugural series. Interested writers for future workshops should request more information or submit plays to this process by emailing info@paintedfilly.com. Directors interested in participating in this type of workshop should also contact the company at this address with a CV.

100 MINUTES 2009

Will this year be the year that you finally work that definitely crazy, possibly brilliant theatrical idea into a ten-minute script format and submit it? Will it be the year that you pass on our 2009 Call for Plays to the genius writer you just know needs to get a break? We would like to think so. 100 Minutes 2009 promises to be our most adventurous offering yet. The deadline for writer submissions will be 1 December 2008 -- you have been warned.

ARTISTIC COLLABORATORS

Brenda Meaney

Brenda Meaney will perform in Rock, Paper, Scissors, a site-specific multimedia production incorporating theatre, dance, and visual art installation, as part of the 2008 Dublin Fringe Festival. Produced by The Performance Lab and created by Owen Boss, the production will be directed by Painted Filly collaborator Louise Lowe, who also wrote the piece with Gary Duggan. Choreography is by Emma O'Kane. The production will run in the disused Comprehensive School in Ballymun, from 10-21 September 2008 at 7:30 PM nightly.

Sit at the school desk. Wait for instruction. Watch the clock. No talking. The bell dictates everything, creating a game of chance where theatre, dance, and visual art clash, compete, and combine in a myriad of extraordinary stories under the roof of the disused Comprehensive School, Ballymun.

Sarah-Jayne Quigley

Sarah-Jayne will feature in a one-woman show How to Be Loved in Bewley's Cafe Theatre from 8-13 September at 6:15 PM, in the Dublin Fringe Festival 2008. The show is by Mirari Productions. Look for further info in the Fringe programme.

One woman, one obsession, one dead star. Catherine knows she's different – can't stand the day to day of life, you know? She's used to bigger things. A life of light. Join her journey into the grip of celebrity as she prepares to reveal her secret for the first time.
